Climate Wisdom Launch – Fife

For the first couple of years our Climate Wisdom project will be working with Meeting Centres and Meeting Spaces in Angus and Fife. Back on World Environment Day in June 2025, we launched Climate Wisdom with the Angus Meeting Centres at Kirrie Connections in Kirriemuir. In September 2025 we launched Climate Wisdom in Fife with STAND staff, trustees, facilitators and members of the Meeting Spaces at the Jean Mackie Centre in Dunfermline.

It was a lovely, relaxing afternoon where everyone got the chance to take part in 2 nature activities, chat about nature, the environment and all things climate over a delicious artisan afternoon tea.

The ‘Rainbow of Colour’ activity used foraged flowers from our gardens and local green spaces and was a huge hit – with some people creating rainbows so beautiful they wouldn’t be out of place as wedding corsages! The flowers also sparked plenty of conversations about the different names we use for the same plant, as well as the benefits and uses of various plants and flowers.

“I love the feel of this leaf”

“I call it lambs lug what do you call it? “I call it rabbits’ ears”

“Rosemary is good for your memory; I have it in the garden”

For our other activity, we began creating our very own Climate Wisdom Bunting using recycled cardboard boxes and old magazines. We asked members to decorate their triangle with anything that represented environment, nature, food, or climate to them – and boy, were they a creative bunch!

From bold collages to thoughtful messages and vibrant drawings, each triangle was a unique expression of personal connection to the planet.

We’ll continue adding to the bunting over the coming months, building a colourful and inspiring tapestry of our shared climate hopes and wisdom.

“I love doing art things”

Thanks to National Lottery players, Outside the Box have received almost £1.5m from The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest community funder in the UK, to launch ‘Climate Wisdom’.
