Prof. Emeritus Dawn Brooker
Professor Emeritus Dawn Brooker MBE PhD
Before becoming an Emeritus Professor in 2022, she was the founding Director of the Association for Dementia Studies at University of Worcester. Originally qualified as a clinical psychologist, Professor Brooker has many years’ hands on experience in health and social care. She continues to teach, mentor and lecture. She led on the UK research and introduction of Meeting Centres and continues to work in this area. In 2019, she edited an updated edition of Tom Kitwood’s seminal work on person-centred dementia care.
Together with Dr Keith Oliver, Professor Brooker is the Reconsidering Dementia Book Series editor for Open University Press. She was made an MBE for services to those affected by dementia in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours in 2021.

Willy Gilder lives in Edinburgh and was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s 6 years ago. He’s spent his working life in Northampton, where was a journalist for BBC Local Radio. His passion in life is art, and he can often be seen around Edinburgh with sketchbook and paints.

Maxine Meighan
Maxine Meighan
Maxine Meighan graduated with first class honours in the Social Sciences, with a focus on the social model of disability. Maxine has been working in dementia for 9 years, spanning across Dementia and the Arts, Community Care, Dementia Policy and most recently accessible web design for dementia.
Maxine is currently employed by the UK’s largest dementia organisation, Alzheimer’s Society. In addition to her board position at Meeting Centres Scotland, Maxine supports Deepness Dementia Media as their Social Media Coordinator.
